 Above the town of Yambol is Bakadzhik Monastery "Sv. Spas ". It situated on the first peak of the northern slope of Bakadzhik. The monastery can be reached by incurring east of Yambol, then after 10 km turn right, where is the exit of Bakadzhik. St. Spas is located on the asphalt road on the left. The monastery was built around the temple-monument Alexander Nevsky. It is the first temple, which was built as a sign of gratitude to the Russians for the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. The iconostasis made in early 1879 by Russian monks, is transferred and mounted parts. The church was opened in 1884. Around the temple there are commercial and residential buildings. To date, the monastery has no monks, and is only supported by the priest and his wife.
