4 km. east of the village High Sredetska Bukovo, is the only functioning monastery in Strandja Mountain - Golyamo "St.. Zhivotopriemen source "also known as" St. Petka ". The monastery is one of the oldest in Bulgaria. According to sources, was built in the XXII century on the ruins of an ancient Thracian sanctuary. Near the monastery are still visible ruins of a Thracian fortress. One of the theories about the location of the famous medieval PARORIAN Monastery and School of Hesychasts argue that it is located here. For this, however, there is no archaeological evidence and remains to this day a guess. What is known for sure is that during the Ottoman rule the monastery activity here and fading Golyamo monastery sank into oblivion and ruin. So by 1876 Legend of the resurrection of the monastery about a resident of the village Kodzha Beech (old name of Big Bukovo) who dreamed of the Mother of God. Peasant listened this out and healed, and the story of the healing spring and the old monastery quickly spread. This vision gives fast results and get rich monastery, built a new farm buildings, large stone convent, which now stands half destroyed several mills. So the arrival of the communist rule and complete indifference to religious monuments.
