In 1951 created the Regional Historical Museum of Plovdiv. The museum is among the leaders largest museums in the country. It is a cultural institution, which main objective is retrieval, preservation and presentation of the cultural values of the Plovdiv region from 15 to 20 Century. The historical museum has a rich fund, which keeps over 60,000 exhibits unique collections of cool weapons and a wide variety of decorations and medals, military supplies and accessories, personal items and clothing items from urban life, publications, photos and documents. All of them presented in four separate exposures, Bulgarian revival Publishing in Bulgaria 19-20 century Unification of Bulgaria, Museum Center for Contemporary History, which are located in four separate buildings.
Exposition "Unification of Bulgaria" was opened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Unification. The museum collection covers the period from the signing of the Treaty of Berlin to the Serbo-Bulgarian war. Here in five exhibition halls are authentic items, weapons, lots of photos and documents involved in the Unification and the Serbo-Bulgarian war. Host of exposure is the main administrative building of the museum. The building was built in 1885 and today has preserved its authentic appearance. Museum Exhibition "Bulgarian Revival" is a rich picture, tangible and documentary material that acquaints us with the history of the city from 15 to 19 Century. The exhibition is located in a house, a representative of the typical Plovdiv symmetrical architecture, which is under the auspices of UNESCO. Exposition "Knogoizdavane in Bulgaria 19-20 century" is the home of the founder of modern Bulgarian Hristo Danov publishing.
