Mogilanska mound – A Burial of a Thracian princess

In Mogilanska Mound city. Vratsa was found burial of a Thracian princess. In 1965 in the yard of a house in the city center was half destroyed towering hill. After archaeological excavations revealed three tombs. One of them is robbed and the other two were very well preserved. In grave № 2 found chariot harnessed two horses that were killed during the ritual funeral. Found remnants of a young woman without ornaments, which is supposed to be a maid - ritually killed along with her master. In the tomb there remains a girl high -150 cm .. the girl's head was adorned with a wreath of laurel branches crown is gold and weighed 205 grams, there is gold earrings, finely decorated with various precious figurines. There are another 47 applications from pure gold. The body of the girl found the remains of an armed warrior. In the tomb there was - silver kneecap in places was a lavish gilt decoration, 88 of the top copy, sword and a bronze helmet, silver, silver jug, rhytonised amphora 50 clay figurines. In the third grave was no skeletons of a man and woman with gold and silver and jewels. Interesting findings by researchers confirmed that this is a royal tomb of the dynasty Triballi. Archaeological findings can be found in the Regional Historical Museum in the town. Vratsa.
