Виж всички забележителности One of the largest museums of mineralogy in the world is in our capital, this museum is "Earth and Man." It was founded in early 1986 and is housed in a unique building in the city center, built in the period 1896 to 1898 and a monument of culture. As project architect. Hristo Ganchev, the building was restored and renovated in 1987 and now welcomes visitors.
A major driver for the creation of the museum is Dr. Michael Maleev.
Besides the impressive area of the exhibition halls (4000 m2), the museum is impressive with a wealth of permanent exhibitions.

The exhibition "Giant crystals", which can be seen in crystals of human growth, primarily varieties of quartz - rock crystal, smoky quartz, amethyst, morion, but also beryl, tourmaline, apatite and others. Such collections are few in the world.
The exhibition "Minerals of the Earth", which represents mineral diversity on the planet and includes many rare and commonly occurring minerals.
The exhibition "Gems", which spelled out the beautiful and rare natural and man-made gemstones.
"Minerals of Bulgaria" is exposure, which can be seen around 250 of 700 mineral species found in the country. Below are samples from various regions in which visitors can admire a beautiful crystal tourmaline, amethyst, aquamarine, heliodor, spesartin, rodohrozit, crystal geodes and more.
Among the most valuable exhibits of the museum's collection is "Peter Tranteev" which was donated to the museum of the sons of the founder of organized caving in our movement - Peter Tranteev. In addition to its scientific value to specialists, it is interesting for visitors observed and studied by the author cave pearls.
The building of the museum houses more library, library, six laboratories for specialized research lab, and gem shop. Annually hosts exhibitions, concerts, photo contests and candidate student exchanges.
