        In the northern part of Bulgaria on the Danube is Baba Vida fortress. For 2000 years this castle has survived time and keep the secret until now to tell the generations and a reminder of his mistress Vida. For some other castle is a fortress, while others call him Baba Vidini towers, but few know about this historical monument, as we know it today. It has existed since the first century when this place was the ancient fortress Bononia.

     In the centuries of Ottoman rule Baba Vida Fortress has the features of fortification, in which there are loopholes and barracks room. Defense of the fort consisted of two stone walls with a thickness of 2.2 m and 4 and 5 side corner towers. In the second half of XVIII century fortress used as a prison.

      One legend tells that once lived large Bulgarian boyar, who ruled the Balkan Mountains to the Carpathians. He had three daughters Vida, Kula and Gamza that after his death, divided his possessions. Most daughter species are not married as sisters and remained life itself. Under her leadership was built the castle in which she lived retirement.Podannitsite she was grateful for and successfully guided them otbranyavalao of raids.After her death in appreciation of the castle they named "Baba Vidini towers" to bring to Thanksgiving time and mentioned it.
