Deaf Stones Thracian Sanctuary

Thracian rock sanctuary "stone deaf" is one of the biggest cult objects. Contains several large, cut by gorges huge rocky massif. At the base of one of them is shaped tomb. East of the burial chamber is carved bed and a small niche. Near them were found the remains of a second unfinished tomb. In eastern massif is carved staircase leading to the top, where the pool is located. The remaining rock cliff are covered with over two hundred religious niches.
Where is chosen to be built sanctuary was selected very carefully - majestic scenery and a clear view to the four cardinal points. Highlighting over the main field, in the minds of the ancient inhabitants of the mountains, the arrays were sacred. The height of the scale of the Thracians is symbolized ritual of switching from daily to the sacred. One who climbs the stairs of the sanctuary leading to heaven is no longer an ordinary person, lit by the rays of the sun, the priest goes into a new space.
In 2008, they started archaeological studies of the sanctuary. Even after the initial excavations found that the object is iconic layers from the Iron Age. All results of the three-year studies give reason to confirm the thesis that this is a complex of Thracian cult.
All cuts are made in the sanctuary with the same method and a similar instrument that has left long cross traces in the rock layers in horizontal rows arranged opposite. These rock tracks, experts called "herringbone". Such processing of rocks observed in other sites in the Eastern Rhodopes - Perperikon Gorna Kula, Bivolyane and elsewhere.
Studies are still in the beginning and there are large-scale studies to clarify the stages of the development of attractive monument.
