Interesting is the story of Alexandria Monastery - St. Prophet Elijah. Monastery was built during the reign of Tsar Ivan Alexander, the 1331-1371 According to legend, the monastery was built at the insistence of the second wife of the king. Building was built there because this place was healing water and a slab of stone on which were printed the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Elijah. After the fall of the Bulgarian state under Ottoman rule, the monastery was destroyed. After years here in place of Alexandria monastery was erected wooden Teke - Muslim shrine, which today does not exist.
