Rhodope Mountains is fraught with many secrets, legends and miracles. With its lush, green forests and clear, wild rivers, it has been praised since ancient times. In this "paradise" wonders of nature never cease to marvel. Starting the journey from Devon to Smolyan, 4 km from the city, located on the left bank of the river Vacha, natural forces, like the sculptor, have created a bizarre rock formation resembling an elephant. For thousands of years of wind, rain, sunshine and earthquakes are combined to mold the body legs, head and even the beauty of the animal. Scientists say the hole, measuring 3 m 3 m, which is located between the mouth and beauty was a sign of an ancient cave, which was destroyed by flood waters of the river or after a major earthquake.

Locals believe that this scale has strange healing powers.
In Asian cultures the elephant is a sacred animal, brings wisdom and love, protects against offenders. And whether accidental or not, this magnificent animal keeps the heart of the Rhodope Mountains for centuries and will continue its mission, perhaps to the end. According to local "Elephant" has healing power, if you look long enough at it, it will heal.
Unfortunately, near the rock phenomenon is a construction site near the access is limited. However, the area around the town of Devin is very attractive for recreation. There are trails and hiking routes that bring pleasure and admiration for nature reigns.
