The church is in the style of European early Christian architecture, and is also regarded as one of the oldest churches in Bulgaria. Not known period in which the church was built, but there are suggestions that it happened at the beginning of the V century. The building was originally rotunda, which was built on a Thracian sanctuary, then became a church. Temple Virgin Mary was circular, with two lanes and was used as a place of worship. Over the centuries, several times it was destroyed again upgraded.
