Виж всички забележителностиNatural History Museum of Kotel is a favorite spot for nature lovers of all ages. The Museum is located in Park Springs, which is a great place for walks and games.
Founder of the museum was born in Kotel teacher Vasil Georgiev (1875-1963), who had long studied and collected samples of local flora and fauna, fossils, insects, fish, amphibians, mammals, reptiles and birds. Gradually their number grew to 30,000samples. The scientific value of the collection was gathered more appreciated in 1951 by a committee of BAS and decided it should be promoted as a museum. So in 1952 in Kotel opened the first provincial Museum of Natural History in Bulgaria.
The new building, which houses the museum today, was built in 1981 .. In it, an area of 1000 square meters, has organized a unique exhibition - species are shown in their natural habitats. Exhibited rare and endangered species such as bustard, black vulture,black stork, golden eagle, otter, brown bear.
