Rozhen monastery is located near the village of Rozhen. The village is located six kilometers from the town of Melnik and that the monastery is the godfather of the village. Rozhesnki monastery and the church "St. Nativity of the Virgin" is the largest sanctuary in the Pirin region. It is one of the few medieval temples, which nowadays are almost retained its original and authentic form.
It is unclear exactly when the monastery was built. In the late 17th century it was burned and the archive is irrevocably destroyed. According to sources stored in Athos, Rozhen monastery existed as early as 890 years.
